Philosophy
My ultimate goal for every student is that they become self sufficient. Long after they have left my studio, my wish is that my students can continue to play for themselves and possibly others as a form of entertainment and therapy. To that end, I stress an injury-free technique. Specifically, I teach a method called The Taubman Approach. I also incorporate sight reading and improvisation so that students may become more adept at learning musical language.
Although my approach is largely based on the classical repertoire, I also teach popular music. It is my opinion that the technique, musicality, and vocabulary of the classical repertoire can contribute to the composition and learning of popular music.
