Q. How much do you charge?
A. As of 2024, my rates are $80 per hour, $60 for 45 minutes and $40 for 30 minute lessons. Books, recital, and festival fees are paid through a $100 registration fee due at the beginning of the year that reserves a spot on my schedule. Keep in mind that my fees are reflective of 30 years of music study, over 20 years of teaching, ongoing professional development and proven success with past students.
Q. What does lesson tuition include?
My home studio is located near the intersection of Steiner Ranch Blvd and FM 620 in the Plateau neighborhood of Steiner Ranch. I am easily accessible from Lakeway, Bee Cave, and NW Austin.
Q. Do you travel to students' homes?
A. No, I do not travel to students' homes. The advantages to coming to lessons at my studio are numerous. I have immediate access to an extensive sheet music library and two superior instruments that are regularly tuned. Students also can see me quickly demonstrate on the keyboard. Most importantly, the expectations of the student are raised if they are not in their own home environment.
Q. Is it preferable to have an acoustic piano or digital keyboard?
A. There are advantages to both and, with continual advances in technology; the duplication of the feel and sound of a digital piano is approaching that of an an acoustic. For students, who want to realize a virtuosic technique, an acoustic piano is preferred.
Q. Do you offer lessons to 3 and 4 year old children?
A. At this time, I do not. If you are looking for a musical outlet for your child, I highly suggest Music Together classes, Dalcroze classes, or Orff classes. All early childhood musical education develops gross motor skills, oral and aural skills, along with a host of other benefits. You can find information on these classes below:
